PLOWS GH1600

The coal mining project is a large project and of course requires superior heavy equipment, especially in longwall mining. Starting from 1941 the longwall plow was designed and used for the first time, then in the 1990s various technical advances were made that have allowed it to grow to what it is today. One of these machines is the GH1600 which is produced after the GH800 with a better design and has twice the power of the GH800 which is 1600 kW. With that much power, the GH1600 can take full advantage of it so that it can protect the engine from being overloaded by keeping the plowing speed constant. The load protection system is called UEL Cat, which is an integrated system that has a multi-disc clutch to protect the clutch from slipping. through the configuration of the pressure, so that the breaking strength of the chain can be achieved. In addition, the presence of “clutch slip” detection can also provide protection by reducing gearbox torque so that the chain is kept safe.

The category of coal hardness that can be overcome by this GH1600 engine is medium, hard, and even very hard. In the hardness of very hard coal it turns out that the GH1600 can reach because of its development that is focused on that level of hardness with seams of around 1.0 m to 2.53 m, as well as increasing plow displacement rates. Other improvements are also found in plow cutting, control system on plow control (PMC-D and PMC-V), automatic operation, and so on. The plow cutting uses a simple plow principle with the strategic placement of the carved plow body so that the AFC can be easily directed to the coal aces with a controlled depth. The plow cutting action can also be controlled remotely via a central control station using an outrigger steering system that can be controlled either manually or automatically with vertical horizon control.

The plow control that works on the GH1600 engine can only be achieved through two main controls, namely PMC-D and PMC-V. The two units have different roles, but they work very well together, making the system even more powerful. In this PMC-D unit, the drive control is dedicated to the gearbox to be applied to a regular drive system for more control due to the availability of complete hardware so that it can work more effectively too. Meanwhile, the PMC-V unit plays a role in controlling the longwall as a whole as well as visualizing various facial operations such as graphical display, position (coal load, plow, foot pressure, steps, and others). The link between the two units lies in the operator interface of all PMC-D units available in PMC-V. That way, the performance of the GH1600 can be analyzed precisely so that maximum productivity is achieved, especially the offering of advanced features and even being able to beat the performance of the shearer can be one of the reasons that the GH1600 is suitable for use, especially in very hard coal with guaranteed results and safety.
