Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting in all stages of project design and will provide technical support to the EPC team. This position reports to senior management personnel or the Technical Director who may be appointed by the President of the Company. This position is remotely located and working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 5:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. This position might be expected to travel up to 30%.
Qualifications
• Have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering sciences
• Have relevant work experience in power generation development and design (particularly wind or solar power plants)
• Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years professional engineering experience in the solar industry
• Assertive, a team player, and able to handle pressure
• Have strong skills in using Microsoft Office Suite and have experience with Gantt charts (MS Project or equivalent)
• Have knowledge of National Electrical Code and excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willing to travel, at least 25% of the time
• Have experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent) and experience with photovoltaic performance modeling tools (PVSyst preferred)
• Have experience in licensing process with local authority having jurisdiction, (preferred)
• Previous experience managing projects from initial design to installation and execution, is preferred
Job Description
• Manage technical requirements at all stages of project design and development, including conceptual and advanced system design, conduct site visits, observe regulatory codes and customer requirements, determine system balance, coordinate requirements for licensing and technical support during the construction phase;
• Apply external resources such as structural consultants, geotechnical and topographic surveyors, civil and electrical engineers and other specialized professionals as needed and suppliers;
• Review, create and maintain energy production models, package drawings, scope of work, bills of materials and other technical project documentation;
• Assist in the review and development of energy production models, bills of materials, project schedules, scope of work, cost estimates, budgets, standards and suppliers' bids;
• Coordinate internal resources for subject matter expertise and project risk reduction;
• Work closely with other team members, contribute to the completion of proposals to design and deliver PV and BESS projects,
• Maintaining continuous improvement in project design, plans, processes and product development, as well as assisting with technical training of other team members and new employees;
• Prepare conceptual design for solar project including main component selection, single line diagram, equipment layout, etc;
• Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results;
• Prepare bid packages for subcontractors including scope of work, schedule, conceptual design, and project description, ;
• Assist in the field with site visits as needed, testing, commissioning and start-up of the power plant being built;
• Perform energy generation modeling for solar projects using PV systems and other tools;
• Leading technical duties in preparing EPC proposals and reviewing potential project acquisition opportunities;
• Undertake other tasks and special projects, as assigned.
