        The VFD A800/W800 is a Caterpillar product that includes a highly efficient underground longwall that provides maximum control of the conveyor motor. Maximum control of the conveyor motor is due to the Cat variable frequency drive and Cat medium voltage drive. Both have VFD units both air and liquid cooled, but these VFD units are primarily used in Cat mid-range drives. Cat variable frequency drives require AFC to act as an accelerator of armored face conveyors to increase the productivity of VFDs with 800 and 1200kW power. The AFC operating cycle after being tested repeatedly has proven to be suitable for use on VFDs because it can control speed and torque very reliably with the torque balance of various loads. Thus, the reliability of this AFC makes it able to provide power supply according to the needs when the VFD is assisted also with optimal material flow.

        The other drive technology, the Cat medium voltage drive, utilizes the combination of two types of VFD (air and liquid-cooled). The combination makes it resistant to fire, and the modifications made make the converter control system not require a special motor. However, there is also a collaboration between PKS and a dual-circuit liquid cooling station so that the use of a standard AC motor is very possible and allows the adoption of several systems with a VFD container position at the gate of the longwall system of the energy train. This provides a myriad of benefits, such as saving space due to the separation of the PKS from the motor which makes the installation of a unit converter that can reach 4 kilometers and the power demand is met due to the buildup of the PKS energy circuit. In addition, regeneration of power to electricity can also be carried out through Q4 operation and the voltage that does not decrease can increase performance during the A800/W800 VFD start-up.

        It should also be noted that the performance of this VFD uses an effective power structure in the form of Current Source Inverter (CSI) Pulse Width Modulated (PWM). With the use of this type of converter, the machine can reduce the pressure on the motor winding insulation because it has an inductor that makes a current wave form so that this VFD can work precisely and quickly. This pressure reduction can also be done because the total harmonic distortion (THD) is less than 5% at sinusoidal voltages. Moreover, with unlimited torque that keeps the chain to a minimum through alternating current frequency and braking that can be done easily, so that it is one of the factors that support this VFD operation, which can be carried out non-mechanically and all electrically and saves life. Therefore, with the various reliability of the famous VFD features with the smartest electrical power usage with a rated power of 1072HP and an input voltage of 3300V it is very suitable for longwall operations with low operating costs.
